Generating Traffic with Pay Per Click Ads

Chances are you’ve seen those ads when you do a search on Google or another Search Engine, and we’re certain you’ve seen ads on websites and maybe you’re interested in learning the basics about how to begin getting visitors to your website using this method. Pay Per Click (or PPC) Advertising can be a real godsend or it can be a real headache if you don’t know what you’re doing. The main idea behind PPC Advertising is to generate visitors to your website by having your advertisement displayed on a search engine (we’ll use Google as an example here on out) and if your ad is clicked you pay a pre-determined amount. Here is where the potential trouble begins for new PPC advertisers. You have to decide what keywords you want to focus on and what amount you are willing to pay for each click and how much you are willing to spend within a set amount of time, by day, week and month.

One of the most vital things when starting a PPC Ad Campaign is choosing the right keywords. By carefully researching your keywords you can choose the ones that have the least amount of competitors and those keywords will also end up costing you the least. PPC Advertising works by Advertisers essentially bidding on a keyword and what position they want their ad displayed at. By researching and using the correct keywords you will be able to ‘thin the heard’ down and only get visitors who are truly interested in your website or product. If you have a website that focuses on Bread Baking, it’s important to ensure that only visitors will click your Advertisement that are interested in Bread Baking and by tailoring your keywords around that niche you’ll ensure that you don’t get visitors clicking on your ad for Pastries, WonderBread or other unrelated keywords.

The second aspect of successful PPC Advertising is your bidding amount, that is, how much you are willing to pay for each click. Some keywords are very competitive and to get in the top three position for your ad you may have to pay anywhere from 50 cents to 3 dollars. By carefully selecting your keywords and determining the right amount to pay per click you will be able to attract the right amount of visitors and keep your budget on track.

The last and most important aspect of PPC Advertising to attract visitors is Tracking, that is to say constantly monitoring your PPC Campaign to ensure your budget is being spent effectively. By monitoring the activity of your campaign you will be able to see if certain ads get more clicks, if some ads are getting clicks but not converting into sales, and so on and so forth. By frequently monitoring your PPC Campaigns you will be able to adjust and correct to suit your needs and get the best results.
